Last week, I was rummaging around my mess of a purse when I found a folded over Post-it note floating amongst the receipts and gum wrappers and coupons. I keep plenty of little notes, mostly lists of things, in my purse to theoretically keep me organized, but this wasn’t one I recalled generating in recent memory. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was a list of things I was thankful for, likely written sometime in the last year and inexplicably still floating around after tv chaos of a new baby. I briefly glanced over the items and was humbled by this apropos discovery.

Three months: little victories

All of a sudden, Hudson is three month old! As usual, he changes and grows quickly, mastering new skills and developing more of his personality. He can go through so many phases in just a month. Thankfully, that usually means a challenging spell will pass relatively quickly, even if it’s replaced by a different one! But the skills and cognitive developments are constantly moving him forward to being more physically and mentally mature…and also more fun!

Three years: transplanted

Last week, I bought some new pots for my lily and hibiscus plants. They were still in the original pots and were getting root bound, so it seemed like the thing to do before bringing them to overwinter inside the house. Since today marks three years since our move to Washington, D.C., I reflected a bit on my own transplantation from Colorado to the east coast. It’s hard to say that after three years I still feel “new,” but I wonder just how deep our new roots here go.

Previously, I talked about our accidental basement makeover that kind of just happened while we were working on the other two bedroom renovations upstairs. Today, after alluding to it for months, I wanted to officially share the final result of those two rooms with you, bringing our update of the three upstairs bedrooms to a close. While there are still other projects we’d like to do upstairs, it’s nice to say we’ve at least wrapped up this segment. Now for the first time since we moved in two years ago, I have all bedrooms clean and functional!
