Last week, Bart and I braved a 1,000-mile (one-way) road trip with Hudson to go visit family in Arkansas. It’s a trek we know very well, but never in ten years of marriage have we attempted it with a baby, so we didn’t know what what to expect. Despite some pitfalls here and there, we are thankful it went smoothly, and we were glad to be with family for Christmas.

Hudson will be four months old for his first Christmas, so he isn’t really going to remember what we do or any gifts he’s given. However, it seemed sad to not get him anything at all! So Bart and I decided it would be a great opportunity to make a cute project that we’ve seen online, something that we probably would have made for him anyway…now we can stick a bow on it and call it a Christmas present!

Ten years ago, in what seems like a galaxy far far away, Bart and I started our journey together as husband and wife. As it usually does, the years have gone by slowly and quickly at the same time. I’m proud that we’ve made it this far, but seeing as our goal is at least sixty years together, Lord willing, we are really just getting started.

With a new baby, I obviously don’t have quite as much time as I used to, but it was important to me to do at least a little holiday decorating around the house this year. It’s Hudson’s first Christmas, and though he won’t remember it, we will recall these special moments like hanging a third stocking on the mantel for the first time or watching him stare wide-eyed at the lights on the Christmas tree.
