Winter defiance 2015

With a light snow falling and an impending epic blizzard approaching the east coast, it seems like the perfect time to take a quick tour of the little bit of greenery we’ve been enjoying in our house this winter. I tried overwintering some basil and parsley indoors after fall set in, but they succumbed to the winter blues quickly. However, we’ve had a bit of success with a few items, and they have provided a bright spot in an otherwise dull and dreary time of year.

Pup-date: Good days

One year ago was one of the worst days I’ve ever had to experience. I spent the day on an island in the Caribbean, snorkeling at multiple beaches along the coast of Curaçao and enjoying a midwinter getaway with family. That’s an odd way to describe one of the “worst days of my life,” but it was what happened unbeknownst to me while on vacation that will make it a day I will never forget.

It’s been an up and down week at the Taylor household. While other notable and exciting things have happened, those sort of got drowned out by the weather this week. I know it’s January and winter does have to happen, but that doesn’t make me excited about all the snow and cold we’ve been having.

I don’t really do the traditional New Year’s Resolution, and this year is no different. However, a new beginning is always a great time to look back at what you have been doing and decide if there is anything you’d like to work toward with a fresh beginning. Last year I brainstormed a few things I’d like to do in 2014, so I thought it would be fun to take a look back and see what I actually accomplished and think of a few things I hope to tackle in 2015.
