Wednesday was my birthday, one of my favorite days of the year. That birthday feeling and how I celebrate has changed a bit over the years, but I still always look forward to the special day. This year, obviously, is my first one to celebrate with Hudson. He didn’t sing to me or get me a card or anything, but he, Bart, and I had some fun adventures that made it a lovely, extended birthday celebration.

Hudson is two months old today. He had his check-up today, and he is 10 lbs 3 oz. and measures about 22 inches long, compared to 6 lbs. 11 oz and 20.5 inches long when he was born. We’re so thankful he is healthy and growing well! We’ve seen lots of progress and changes in the last month as he continues to grow and develop.

Two years ago we became homeowners in northern Virginia. Like every retrospective post, I’m always amazed at how fast the time goes, and this is no exception! Since we moved into our 1962 ranch, we’ve had the opportunity to do some neat updates to bring it into the 21st century. Of course, we’ve had your standard homeowner frustrations, too. So let’s take a stroll down memory lane to see the ups and downs of making this house our home.

Fall is definitely here in Washington, D.C.  The leaves aren’t quite turning just yet, but we’ve had cooler weather and that telltale nip in the air. Other than regretting the inevitable onset of winter, I love fall and the upcoming holiday season. This year it will be much different with a little one, even more special as he gets to experience things for the first time.
