Happy eleven months, Hudson! This last month has been an eventful one, though I probably say that about every month. Can you believe you’ll be a year old in just a few weeks?

It’s been a while since I’ve touched base with the blog. We’ve had a few things going on recently, but I’ve been a bit slow to update, so here’s a quick rundown of our recent adventures.

Being technically full-term and able to possibly go into labor at any moment hasn’t stopped the Taylors from hosting two different contingencies of houseguests over the last two weekends. It’s never too late for a last-minute visit from friends, right?

This weekend, Bart, Murphy, and I hopped in the car and drove down to Raleigh for a bit of a “last hurrah” car trip before the baby gets here. We don’t envision making any grand trips from here on out, as one just never knows. But we did want to take the opportunity to see some friends and family while traveling is slightly less complicated.

At 28 weeks, I am officially in my third trimester. We have less than three months left until our little guy is due, and I’m equal parts ready for it to be here and content to have a little time left. The second trimester was crammed full of travel, visitors, projects, and general churn which only just wrapped up over Memorial Day weekend. It was great to be busy when I was feeling well, but now our schedule for the summer is looking more relaxed, and I am looking forward to coasting a bit to the finish line.

I sincerely wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving today. Even if times are tough or things are rough, let’s remember all of the blessings we do have and appreciate the opportunity to grow through hardship.

On the morning of November 10, 2012, Bart and I saw the sun rise one last time from our driveway in Erie, Colorado as we got in our cars and began the three day, 1700 mile trek to our new home in Washington, D.C. Two years used to seem like an eternity, but I still feel “new” to my job, our church, and the area in general even 24 months after our relocation. Nevertheless, a lot has happened for Bart and me since we began this new chapter in 2012.

This weekend, we made a long overdue trip back to Raleigh, NC to visit with friends and family. We were last there at Easter, and we had planned to make a trip sooner, but summer and life got in the way until October. However, it was an absolutely gorgeous weekend, and we crammed a whole lot of fun and catching-up into three days.

It was astounding how many visitors we had when we first moved to Washington, but I was even more astounded by how few we had after we bought our house last year. We now have a lovely guest suite with a private bath downstairs and have had practically no guests all year to enjoy it! Even when we hosted Bart’s sister and our niece last spring, we stayed in the guest room while they could take a couple of rooms upstairs. However, in October we have been making up for lost time in the guest department. From weekend visits from friends and family to having someone dog-sit while we were out of town, we’ve hosted quite a number of folks in rapid succession at Hotel Taylor the last few weeks.
