Last week, for our summer vacation we took the kids to the Outer Banks for a week. Seven days in one beach house with five adults and four kids four and under is a little bit of insanity, but we survived and had a good time while we were at it.

At 28 weeks, I am officially in my third trimester. We have less than three months left until our little guy is due, and I’m equal parts ready for it to be here and content to have a little time left. The second trimester was crammed full of travel, visitors, projects, and general churn which only just wrapped up over Memorial Day weekend. It was great to be busy when I was feeling well, but now our schedule for the summer is looking more relaxed, and I am looking forward to coasting a bit to the finish line.

Happy Labor Day, everyone! I hope you are all enjoying your last official hoorah of summer. Our street goes way back into a wooded area, with homes on big lots with 100-foot tall trees all around, and a small creek cutting right through the plot of homes. It almost feels like a national forest at times. And with all the wildlife around recently, it sometimes feels like we’re way out in the sticks.

It’s been six months since we moved into our house. During this time, we have experienced two seasons: shoveling leaves and shoveling snow. Now that it’s spring going into summer, we’ll finally get to enjoy the outside of our home more, which were really the major selling points to us. We’ve barely been able to appreciate them with this past epic winter, so it’s nice to acquaint ourselves with the exterior a bit more.
