At the beginning of the new year, I mentioned that one of my goals for the year was to improve my meal planning and grocery shopping. I’m notoriously bad about improvising meal ideas 30 seconds before I start cooking dinner and making four trips to multiple grocery stores in one week. Being spontaneous is great, but relying on it for every day necessities can cause issues when lack of motivation or ideas arises. So I decided an actual meal planning and shopping routine would help me be more structured and encourage variety and even inspire more cooking experimentation.

Last week I mentioned some of my goals for 2014, not necessarily resolutions that must start on January 1 but things I would like to accomplish throughout the year. I decided to tackle two goals right off the bat. Along with the six-word summaries of the New Testament I told you about, my second goal is about meal planning, something I’ve halfheartedly attempted to do a few times before but decided to try with a fresh approach in 2014.
